This was a drawing of the Botta house at Riva San Vitale I completed as one part of Architectural Communication last year at university. It's one of my favourite pieces of work simply because of size (its an A2 drawing) and the way the 3D aspects are drawn out through the military projection. I also like the way the section gives an idea of how the levels are constructed even without seeing the individual plans.
B. A Great Piece of Architecture
Ponte Tower - Johanesburg, South Africa (Source: represent.co.za)
The above photo is taken at the bottom of the tower looking up into itself and through its "core". It is a donut shaped apartment complex built in 1975 and is 54 stories high. I like the building on the basis of its form and the way the sun interacts with the inner core of the building at various times of the day, as illustrated in the above picture. Aesthetically its a concrete eyesore, and through most of its life it housed the local gangs and thugs of the area and maintenance was definitely second rate. Luckily a new inititave known as "new ponte" is now restoring the building to give it a more modern look.
C. A Beautiful Original Photograph
I took this photo about a year ago during the rain. It was a cold miserable day and these two Indian Minors took shelter under our verandah, although not before the rain got to their feathers. The moisture fluffed them up and make them look quite pudgy (normally minors look like quite athletic birds) and they spent most of the afternoon waddling and rubbing against each other to warm up.
